In the Bookcase at Marcham Hall (in the main room near the fireplace)
There are many, many authors in Cayuga Heights. You won’t find writing among the “customary home occupations” listed in the village’s zoning law. But, because hundreds of books have been written on computer keyboards, typewriters and even yellow pads in homes here, you could call it our primary industry. Cayuga Heights residents, Carole Schiffman and Randi Kepecs, have gathered a representative sample of over 55 books written in the village to put on display. Ranging across history, social science, scientific research, biography, poetry, novels, children’s books, essays and more, they attest to the intellectual diversity of the community. Some titles will be familiar, perhaps written by a neighbor, if you are a villager, by a Cornell professor, or by a former resident. Others may be new to you. Also included are local histories of the area if you want to learn more about this bookish place and its surroundings.

Still Making History: Reaching Literary Heights
Cayuga Heights continues to make history today, holding the title of the municipality with the highest concentration of Ph.D.’s and advanced degrees in the nation (immediately followed by Forest Home, part of Lansing, East Ithaca, and Northeast Ithaca!) Ithaca is a literary town, and many of these books have been penned in Cayuga Heights.
