Preservation and Restoration
An important part of the mission of the Cayuga Heights History Project is to preserve public and private documentary and material sources related to the history of the Village of Cayuga Heights.
The house history project is part of this effort, as is the ongoing work of Village staff to preserve the historic character of Marcham Hall, originally the residence of Dorothy Cornell. Learn more about recent preservation efforts by clicking on the links below. |
Marcham Hall--Past and PresentPreservation begins with history. Village Historian Beatrice Szekely researched the construction and residential history of what is today the Village Hall.

Restoration of Original ChandeliersA search through the attic of Marcham Hall yielded a delightful surprise--wrapped in an old newspaper, the original chandeliers selected by Dorothy Cornell for her studio.

Historic MapsVillage Engineer Carl Crandall mapped the village for almost five decades--from its earliest days until his retirement in 1961. The Crandall maps are snapshots of village land use over time. Preserving and digitizing these maps is an ongoing project.
