The Cayuga Heights History Project takes a look back at the Village of Cayuga Heights' first hundred years with an eye toward preserving our built and natural environments, which is the foremost goal set forth in the recently adopted Cayuga Heights comprehensive plan. Notably, Cayuga Heights celebrated its centennial in 2015 at the same time that Cornell University celebrated a sesquicentennial.
One hundred years is a short enough span to allow us to capture the stories of our shared past, but long enough for those stories to slip away if we are not attentive. The Cayuga Heights History Project is a way to share what is known about the Village of Cayuga Heights' founding, its historical development, architecture, and the people who make it interesting. We seek broad community involvement and invite you to participate in events, research your house history, and share your stories. While we will continually post on the site the best information we have, correcting errors and expanding the base of knowledge, it is only with the help of the community that we can grow a textured and engaging repository of information. |
