 Paul Martyn Lincoln (1870-1944) helped install the first electrical line for the Niagara Falls Power Company and worked for Westinghouse Electric before he came to Ithaca.
In 1901, Lincoln had invented the synchroscope, a key piece of equipment for electric companies that is still in use today. Philadelphia's Franklin Institute awarded the engineer its John Scott Medal for his invention.
Elizabeth Hague Lincoln, Paul's wife, died in East Cleveland, Ohio, in late 1922. The widowed Lincoln moved to Ithaca in 1923, after he was named director of Cornell's electrical engineering department. |

His daughters Elizabeth Hague Lincoln (Cornell '27) and Helen Hague Lincoln (AB, Wellesley, '21, Cornell graduate courses, 1923-1924) both attended Cornell.
Elizabeth Lincoln married Harrison Goodman, who was a director of Therm-Electric Meters Company, the company Paul Lincoln founded in 1937. The Goodmans lived at the home on Cayuga Heights Road with Lincoln until 1942. |
"The Architect," a national monthly review "of the best work being produced in America," published the floor plans and several views of the Tallman-designed home in its March 1929 edition.
